    Auto Crash: Four NYSC members and soldier Burnt to d3ath in Adamawa

    Six persons, including four members of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and a soldier, were burnt to death following a motor accident in Adamawa State. 

    The crash occurred on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at about 1:50 p.m. when the military vehicle, travelling from Gombi to Yola, collided head-on with the commercial bus conveying five passengers from Yola to Mubi along the Narehi area of the Girei-Song Local Government Area of the state.

    The spokesperson for the Adamawa State Police Command, Suleiman Nguroje, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said “The unfortunate incident involved a military gun truck travelling from Gombi towards Yola and a commercial Hummer bus conveying five (5) passengers from Yola to Mubi,” the statement read.

    “Preliminary findings reveal that both vehicles were involved in a head-on collision, resulting in the commercial bus flipping over and bursting into flames.

    “Tragically, all five passengers aboard the Hummer bus were burnt to d3ath after the vehicle caught fire following the collision.”

    Preliminary identification revealed that four of the deceased were serving members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to Adamawa State.

    They were identified as Suleuman Juliet, Usman Shuaibu, who are both indigenes of Kaduna State and Hafsat Hassan. But the remaining victims are yet to be identified, the police said.

    Police authorities confirm that one military personnel attached to the military vehicle lost his life as a result of the crash.

    “Police operatives, in collaboration with other emergency responders, promptly responded to the scene. The corpses have been evacuated to the Specialist Hospital, Yola, while efforts are ongoing to identify the remaining bodies and locate their families,” he added.

    Reacting to the tragedy, the Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command,  Kabir Umar Hassan, extended his condolences to the bereaved families, the Nigerian Armed Forces, the NYSC, and all those affected by the incident.

    The police said investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing and assured the public that further details would be communicated as they emerge.

    The bodies of the deceased have since been evacuated to the Specialist Hospital, Yola, while authorities continue efforts to identify the remaining victims and contact their families.
