Nigeria’s Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo noted: “The life of Daddy (Pastor Adeboye) in itself is one big miracle! For a man born to financially-challenged parents in the remote village of Ifewara, Osun state, who had no shoes at 18 years old, who was not a born again Christian until the time he was a Mathematics teacher at the University of Lagos, becoming the leader of a church with a strong presence in over 195 countries is indeed, a miracle worth knowing. For this same man to remain infectiously humble, despite his enormous power, influence and popularity is also a miracle in itself.”
Also, Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom praised Pastor Adeboye for remaining steadfast in the service of God and leading many to Christ.
Ortom said, “Our Dear Father in the Lord, you have proven over the years that you were not just born great, you’ve achieved greatness. You have remained an epitome of greatness to date. You are an accomplished spiritual father to millions who have continued to seat under your teaching ministry for all seasons. As you clock 80 years today, March 2, 2022, we make bold to join your numerous children across the world to celebrate you.
“As of today, you have taken the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG from relative obscurity to prominence in about 200 nations of the World with more than 15 million parishes in Nigeria. This is indeed remarkable.
“More importantly, you have shown us that you are a man of excellence, integrity and exemplary spiritual leadership. You have lived a life that inspires holiness, brilliance, builds confidence, spiritual maturity and unrelenting faith in the awesome power of the Most High God,” the Governor noted.
Ekiti State Governor Dr Kayode Fayemi equally congratulated the clergyman, saying the occasion calls for celebration considering the value of the calling and ministry of Pastor Adeboye as a chosen vessel of God to Nigeria and all nations of the world.
The governor, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, said the eminent cleric has enjoyed God’s extraordinary grace in entering the club of octogenarians in good health and excellent spirit.
He described Pastor Adeboye as a role model to many and a man who exudes transparent humility in line with the teachings of Jesus Christ whom he imitates.
Adeboye was born on March 2, 1942 in Osun State, resigned from UNILAG to become interpreter of the church in 1973 and was ordained General Overseer of RCCG in 1975.
