Amid disagreement and rancour, the 109-member Nigerian Senate, Thursday, passed the Electoral Amendment Bill.

The amended bill now empowers the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the National Assembly “to determine the use (or not) of electronic transmission of results of elections.”

A total of 52 Senators mostly of All Progressives Congress voted for INEC to seek clearance from NCC before transmission of results electronically.

Those who voted that INEC should transmit election results when and where practicable were 28 Senators of Peoples Democratic Party.
However, 28 Senators who were absent plotted ‘coup’ against Nigerians because they stayed away from making their stand known in an all-important bill.
