Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, Thursday, played host to Muhammadu Sanusi 11 (CON), the 14th Emir of Kano at the Executive Council Chamber, Government House, Uyo.
A Facebook post by Aniekeme Finbarr, a Special Assistant to the Governor on Media posits that Sanusi who is also the Chairman, Qua Iboe Power Project, QIPP, is visiting the state on a dual capacity probably- to work out modalities for the smooth implementation of QIPP and to foster goodwill between the people of Kano and Akwa Ibom state.
It is known as Dangote Group, Black Rhino Group in collaboration with Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) have formalised agreement to construct the Qua Iboe Power Plant (QIPP) in Akwa Ibom State at the cost of $1.1 billion.
In one of his visits to Qua Iboe Terminal, Ibeno during the hand-over ceremony of the plant, Sanusi II, the Chairman of Black Rhino and Emir of Kano, had said the conclusion of the PPA and PCOA processes would give promoters of the project the confidence to accelerate their Final Investment Decision (FID).
However, a political analyst in the state averred that the visit may not be totally divorced from politics as 2019 elections draw closer.
Since the defection of Senator Godswill Akpabio from Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to All Progressives Congress, APC on August 8, Governor Emmanuel has invited many high-profile persons and politicians to the state.
Two weeks ago, ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo visited the state and endorsed the governor for a second term in the office.
