Alumni of Nigerian Christian Secondary School, Ukpom in Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom have been charged to rise to the occasion by harnessing their resources, expertise, and networks to enhance the growth of the association.
Aniekan Etiebet, Esq. the Chairman, Board of Trustees/Legal Adviser of Nigerian Christian Secondary School Old Students Association (NCSSOSA), who made the call in an acceptance speech, described the task before them as enormous and significant, noting ‘‘but I am confident that together, we can achieve more.’’
This was as Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno recently remarked that an individual’s success in life is a direct credit to the positive nurturing of their alma mater, urging well-placed old students to actively support the growth and infrastructure of their former schools.

Etiebet further called on the alumni to support the Board with with ideas, prayers, goodwill, and resources, syaing’’ Our school gave us so much. It is now our turn to give back and ensure that future generations have an even stronger foundation upon which to build.
He stressed the need for them to work as a team, united by a common purpose and a shared commitment to our alma mater.
Appreciating the outgoing Board for its service and for laying a solid foundation for the body, he assured ‘‘We will honour that work by building upon it and taking our association and alma mater to even greater heights.’’
‘‘Our mandate is clear: to provide strategic direction, promote good governance, and drive meaningful projects that will create a lasting and enduring legacy for our school and for generations to come.
‘‘We will be guided by the principles of transparency, unity, accountability, and service. We will work closely with the Executive, our fellow Alumni, and the School Management to advance our shared vision and achieve our common goals,’’ the BOT Chairman stated.
WASCO’s Turnaround: From Mist to Sunshine
Earlier, the NCSSOSA President from 2023 to 2026, Pastor Iniobong Nwoko, had said the association convened six Executive Council Meetings, held four Virtual Congresses and three physical meetings.
To enhance effectiveness and ensure that our work was structured and impactful, Nwoko said the association had established Membership Mobilization, Project Implementation, Publicity & Government Affairs and Endowment Fund.
He praised Principal-General of the school, Mr. Imo Okori for his cordial working relationship with them, saying ‘‘His openness and support contributed immensely to our collaborative efforts.’’
The outgoing Chairman said the body facilitated the renewal of Board of Trustees registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), adding ‘‘The new certificate has been delivered to our Legal Adviser.’’
The school was founded by Church of Christ Mission in 1964, following the land grant by Ukpom community in 1962.
