A former governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has died at the age of 70.
Before the latest information filtered in, his death was rumoured about one and half weeks ago which was later dispelled.
Ajimobi who has been in a coma and on life support, died of COVID-19 complications in a hospital in Lagos state today June 25.
The former governor was rumoured to have died last Thursday, June 18 but his media aide, Mr Bolaji Tunji and one of his children denounced the report asking Nigerians to rather pray for his recovery.
Late Ajimobi was governor between 20011 and 2019 is survived by his wife, Florence, and children.
Ajimobi, who was born on December 16, 1949, was a life support machine since last Friday at First Cardiology Hospital in Ikoyi, Lagos.
An impeccable source confided in Vanguard that the news of his death was kept away from the public because of the new appointment by the National Working Committee of the APC as acting national chairman of the party.
