*…International Flights Set to Resume in Uyo, First Quarter of 2026
The Federal Government has approved the commencement of full international flight operations at Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo in Akwa Ibom State.
The approval was announced Thursday, November 27, 2025, during a strategic meeting between Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno and the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.
Recall that the airport has been used to airlift pilgrims from Uyo to Jerusalem and other holy lands.

The airport was used to airlift the first batch of Christian pilgrims from Uyo to Israel in 2011. The pilgrims were from Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Abia, Imo, Ebonyi, and Enugu states.
In 2023, the airport was the departure point for Christian pilgrims from Cross River and Ondo states to Israel and Jordan.
With this approval, the airport will begin such full international operations as receiving and processing international airlines, operating cross-border flights, and serving as a direct international gateway linking Akwa Ibom with destinations across Africa and the wider world from the first quarter of 2026.
The landmark development elevates airport to elite class of Nigerian airports authorised for international flight to unlock its vast opportunities for global connectivity, tourism expansion, business growth, and increased foreign investment.
Governor Umo Eno, through sustained engagement and strategic leadership, has once again delivered a major win for the state.
