Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has directed Ministry of Works and Fire Service to construct Ikot Obiokpoho Road in Ukanafun linking Etim Ekpo Local Government Area.

Governor Eno announced the road construction during a funeral service for Bishop Moswill Umoh, the founder of Rapture Trust Gospel Ministries held at Government Primary School, Ikot Obio Okpoho in Ukanafun Local Government Area on Saturday.

The Governor said the construction will connect Ikot Obio Okpoho in Ukanafun to Etim Ekpo LGA, directing the Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, Professor Eno Ibanga, to commence works on the road project.

Straightnews gathered from the area that Ikot Obiokpoho through Ikot Akpa Ntuen bursting in Ikot Anta Eneng Obom in Ukanafun to Nto Unang-Ikot Edet in Etim Ekpo through Nkek-Ikot Udobia-Ikot Akpa Nkuk Road, as a state government road, would have been a better gift in memory of the departed clergyman.

Eno used the occasion to announce the appointment of Evangelist Ekponobong Umoh, as Special Assistant on Education Monitoring to the Governor for Ukanafun-Oruk Anam Federal Constituency.

Ekponobong, a teacher by profession and Minister of the gospel, is son of the deceased who was Coordinator of Fathers in Faith Forum for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.

In a message of condolence on behalf of the government and people of the State, Governor Eno described the departed as God’s General in the Akwa Ibom church community, committed to winning souls for Christ for more than 30 years.

According to him, beyond being a passionate worker in God’s vineyard, the late Moswill Umoh was an advocate of good governance, which he demonstrated in his involvement in utilizing the Fathers in Faith platform to mobilise the church community towards his emergence as governor in the last governorship election.

He described Bishop Umoh as a friend and a confidant who played a fatherly role in his life and upheld him in critical times of his life journey to withstanding the war of lies and character assassination unleashed on him during the electioneering.

He, therefore, pledged his commitment to honour the deceased Father in Faith by living up to his expectation, believing in the capacity to raise the bar of leadership and development in the state by ensuring the implementation of the ARISE Agenda which, he affirmed, Bishop Umoh was passionate about.

While consoling the bereaved family Governor Eno expressed trust that his legacies will be sustained by his progeny, both in the church community and in the government.

In a message of appreciation, Pastor Ekponoabasi Umoh, the chief mourner, said the day was divinely ordained and thanked God for the honour done his father, Bishop Moswill Umoh.

He also thanked the Governor, the Church community and people of the state for supporting the family through the period of the grief.

Delivering a sermon entitled, “The Problem is not About Death,” the General Overseer of Christians Central Chapel, Calabar, Bishop Emma Isong, said every man shall die someday as appointed by God.

Isong who read from Luke 16:22 described as vanity, doing so much to protect one’s body from death, without securing ones soul from the second death and the destruction of the soul after the first death.

Bishop Isaiah Isong, the General Overseer of Believers Assembly, Uyo said Moswill Umoh’s death is not just about the seizure of his breath, but a transition of his soul to the life that Christ has secured for him as a reward for serving God.

Isong called on the congregants to come to Christ for a covenant of life with God and secure their souls from the final and eternal destruction.
