Nigerian singers: Burna Boy, Davido, Asake, Olamide are among the latest nominees for the 66th Grammy Awards.

Burna Boy, who secures four nominations at the 66th Grammys, now holds the record as the Nigerian artiste with the most nominations in the history of the awards, totaling 10.

In addition, he became the first Nigerian artiste to receive a Grammy nomination for five consecutive years (2019-2023).

Burna Boy’s ‘Sittin’ On Top of The World’ has the distinction of being the first African song nominated in the Rap category, specifically in the Best Melodic Rap Performance category.

The track will vie for the honour alongside Doja Cat’s ‘Attention,’ Drake & 21 Savage’s ‘Spin Bout U,’ SZA’s ‘Low,’ and Lil Durk and J. Cole’s ‘All My Life.’

Afrobeats superstar, Davido has been nominated for three Grammy Awards at the 66th edition, with his most recent album, “Timeless,” nominated for Best Global Album.

The singer took to his X account on Friday to celebrate his nomination shortly after the body released the nominee list. This is the first time the ‘Unavailable’ crooner will get three nominations.

“3 nominations at the Grammys!! Delay is not Denial!!,” Davido posted.

Davido also got nominations for Best African Performance for his song “Unavailable” and Best Global Music Performance for his song “Feel.”

Olamide has etched his name in history as the first Nigerian rapper to secure a Grammy nomination.

His collaborative effort with Asake, ‘Amapiano,’ received a nomination in the newly introduced Best African Music Performance category at the 66th Grammys. ‘Amapiano’ will compete for the award against Davido’s ‘Unavailable,’ Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush,’ Burna Boy’s ‘City Boys,’ and Tyla’s ‘Water.’

Similarly, Ayra Starr, at 21 years old, has become the youngest Nigerian to earn a Grammy nomination.

Her chart-topping single ‘Rush’ is nominated in the inaugural Best African Music Performance category at the 66th Grammys.
