Jubilation erupted as army of supporters of Dr. Unyime Idem, member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency ended signature drive to return him to House of Representatives for a third term.
The 120 All Progressives Congress (APC) faithful from the Federal Constituency gathered and appended their signatures on the nomination form for Dr. Idem in Uyo on Thursday.
After the House member had formally picked his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms on the platform of the ruling APC, the supporters in a show of solidarity mobilised for signatures to return the forms.
On Monday, April 25, critical stakeholders from the Federal Constituency gathered and endorsed him for re-election during the 2027 National Assembly election.

This was as Nigeria’s Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno together with other key stakeholders met Sunday in Uyo and endorsed all the National Assembly members and Akwa Ibom House of Assembly members except Etim Ekpo/Ika State Constituency to return for another term.
While others are returning for a second term in the office, a few members are angling for a third term as part of the continuity exercise.

Signing of the nomination form for the Ukanafun-born Lawmaker was greeted with widespread enthusiasm following a meeting by political stakeholders, party faithful, and supporters from the constituency.
The event, which was watched by more than 200 stakeholders and party members, was marked by celebration, solidarity, and renewed commitment to sustaining the developmental strides recorded in the constituency.
Addressing the stakeholders, Idem thanked them for the overwhelming support and confidence reposed in hjm, reaffirming his commitment to delivering quality representation.
He noted that his aspiration for another term is driven by the desire to build on existing achievements and expand opportunities for his constituents.
According to him, a return to the National Assembly would help him to complete the electricity rehabilitation and restoration he is currently undertaking in the federal constituency, reassuring to extend the project to all the villages in the constituency.
The Chairman, House Committee on Public Procurement urged party members and supporters to remain united and focused as the political season approaches, stressing that collective effort would be key to securing success in the forthcoming elections.
In their separate reactions, community leaders and political stakeholders commended him for what they described as impactful representation, citing his contributions to infrastructure, empowerment programmes, and legislative advocacy.
They pledged to mobilize support across wards and communities to ensure massive victory for President Bola Tinubu, Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, Governor Umo Eno, myself and other candidates of the APC, at the polls.
The stakeholders assured him of their continued cooperation, emphasizing the need for continuity to consolidate on ongoing projects and attract more federal presence to the area.
