The Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Boss Mustapha escaped death on Sunday in his Nasarwao Ward, Yola North local government area of Adamawa State during the ward congress of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area.
The congress in the state was conducted Sunday because of protest from a one-time governor Murtala Nyako’s faction.
An eyewitness said as soon as Mustapha arrived at the venue of the congress, some angry APC members led by Alhaji Nurudeen Ibrahim, an APC chieftain in the area chased SGF away on allegation that he has not convened any meeting for the members since his appointment to chart a way forward for the party in the area nor has he impacted the lives of the people and the state in general.
Mustapha is said to be unpopular among his people on allegation of being selfish.
An anonymous source said “The SGF was pelted with stones and sticks by the angry party faithful. Security operatives had to whisk him away to an undisclosed destination.”
Alhaji Ibrahim told newsmen in the area that their action was an outright rejection of his attempt to impose his candidates on the people.
However, efforts to reach Mustapha proved abortive.
