A new International President of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio, a foremost socio-cultural organisation in Akwa Ibom State, has emerged.
He is Akparawa James Edet, who is Permanent Secretary of Akwa Ibom Ministry of Information and Strategy.
Before now, Edet had served in various positions including Vice President 11 and Vice President 1 of the organisation.
Ikpong Essien-Udom, the pioneer Secretary and founding member of Mboho Mkparawa, speaking with Straightnews on Monday confirmed the story, saying having served in the echelon positions, he was automatically qualified to become International President of the frontline organization.
The secretary, Board of Trustees of the organisation said Edet was elected as International President on Sunday, June 12 at a general meeting presided by Obong Patrick Udofia, the outgoing International President of Mboho and would take over the leadership on July 24, this year.
Mr. Edet is a versatile broadcaster with numerous awards to his credit, including National Productivity Order of Merit Award, bestowed on him by the late President Umaru Yar’Adua in 2009.
The broadcast doyen with Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation (Television Service), he had also served as the Director of Information in the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Information and Strategy.
He is a graduate of Media Studies from the Department of Theatre Arts, University of Calabar, Cross River State.
Mhoho was founded on August 1, 1987 for the preservation of Ibibio rich culture and heritage, foster education, economic freedom and better life for all.
The organisation formed by 12 patriotic Ibibio young men continues to grow worldwide with the establishment of new zones and chapters all over Africa, Europe and America.
