Nigerian Radio Air Personality, George Iniabasi Essien, widely known as Mighty George, officially broke the Guinness World Record for the longest marathon radio talk show on Thursday, May 1.
Broadcasting live from Comfort 95.1 FM in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, George surpassed the previous record of 88 hours, 8 seconds, set by Japan’s Taishi Masuoka in 2017.
Starting at 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 27, George surpassed that goal early Thursday morning, May 1 at 4:00 a.m., wrapping up the show at 105 hours and 8 seconds.
Mighty George held listeners spellbound for over four consecutive days, inviting guests, engaging in conversations, and spreading inspiration through the airwaves.
The Comfort FM premises became a carnival of sorts—fans waving flags, chanting his name, and watching history unfold.

Community leaders, fellow broadcasters, artists, and celebrities from across Nigeria and the Diaspora sent in congratulatory messages.
Governor Umo Eno personally visited Comfort 95.1 FM to congratulate Mighty George, acknowledging his dedication and endurance. “This is not just my record—this is a win for everyone who believes in the power of voice and perseverance.”
