Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of Labour Party (LP), has picked Doyin Okupe as his running mate for the 2023 general elections.
Okupe’s name was submitted in order to beat the June 17 deadline given by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to the 18 political parties.
Though both are Christian, Obi who comes form South East region is a one-time Anambra State governor and Okupe from South West region of the country is a one spokesperson for ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Okupe, who is the Director-General of the Peter obi Campaign, will be the placeholder and may be changed after the party stakeholders must have agreed on the suitable vice-presidential candidate for the 2023 elections.
