President Muhammadu Buhari will, on Monday, March 4, pay a thank-you visit to Akwa Ibom State.
The visit will be the second since the President assumed office on May 29, 2015, having visited the state on Friday, December 28, last year for the flag-off re-election campaign christened Next Level in the South-South Region.
Buhari, the All Progressives Congress, APC candidate won after polling 15,191,847 votes to defeat his closest rival, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, who scored 11,262,978 with a margin of 3,928,869 votes during the February 23 Presidential/National Assembly elections.
In Akwa Ibom, President Buhari, however, lost in the state after scoring 175,429 votes against 395,823 votes recorded by Atiku Abubakar of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who won in the state and is yet to come on a thank-you visit.
Tension has been brewing since the party lost the three Senatorial seats and 10 federal constituencies in the House of Representatives to PDP, the opposition party in the country, in the February 23 elections.
A press release by Ini Okopido, the state APC Chairman said the President will be received at APC Campaign ground, Four Lanes, Uyo, the Akwa Ibom capital.
The release, therefore, invited all APC candidates and faithful to attend the rally which will hold at 8 a.m. at the venue.
As a confirmation, Mr. Nsima Ekere, the state APC governorship candidate tweeted “President Buhari on a thank-you visit to Akwa Ibom State on Monday, 4th March, 2019.
#AkwaIbomWillJoin APC!”
