President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Wednesday, took oath of office a second term in the office spanning from 2019 to 2023 .

Professor Osinbajo accompanied by his wife, Dolapo to the podium was the first to be sworn in by the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Ibrahim Tanko Muhammadu.

After, Buhari accompanied by his wife, Aisha took oath of office amidst applause from dignitaries at the Eagles Square, Abuja, venue of the inauguration ceremony.

Meanwhile, a Guard of Honour Parade comprising different military formations: Army, Navy and the Air Force and the Police are marching and mounting a guard of honour.

There was lowering and hoisting flags signifying transition to another term of office followed by 21 gunshot salute.

All entrances leading into the Federal Capital City, Abuja have been closed ahead of the inauguration.
Recall that the Nigerian Army had on May 4, raised the alarm that some elements including foreign collaborators had planned to disrupt the swearing-in ceremony.
This development necessitated security meeting on the instance of the President at the presidential villa, Abuja, on Tuesday.
Already at the venue are Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki; Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; the Governors of Edo and Kogi States, Godwin Obaseki and Yahaya Bello respectively and some of the outgoing ministers alongside members of the Diplomatic Corps.
Also at the venue are members of the National Assembly, the National Working Committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC and the judiciary.

Dignitaries including members of the Diplomatic Corps are seated at the Eagle Square for the inauguration of President’s second term in office.

The ceremony has ended but the inauguration speech and other events will take place on June 12, Democracy Day.
