A Nigerian ex-Catholic priest, on Sunday dedicated a baby girl, two years and three months after his resignation as Reverend Father in the Catholic Church.

The clergyman, Rev. Patrick Henry Edet and wife, Inyene dedicated their child, Mbiet-Yaweh at Grace Family also known as Commonwealth of Champions, Ibom Hall, IBB Avenue, Uyo, Akwa Ibom capital.

The ex-priest tied the knot with former Inyene Sampson Akpan on Saturday, March 17, 2018.

The dedication service was attended by Mr Udom Emmanuel, Akwa Ibom State Governor as the special guest.

Recall that Edet who resigned on July 31, 2017, said “the resignation marked the beginning of ‘freedom’ for his spirit and soul.”

According to him, after 11 long years, he strongly felt the need to leave, because he was feeling boxed in and it was affecting his personal relationship with God.

His words: “From today henceforth, I cease to be a Catholic Priest, in my spirit and in my soul. I forgive those who will criticize me, I live for God. I seek freedom for my soul. As I leave, I leave smiling I am so happy that I am free.”
