Barring appeal to higher court, the 36 governors in the country may forfeit N1,442,384,857.84 to Federal Government.
Already, the Federal High Court in Lagos presided over by Justice Mojisola Olatoregun, Friday, ordered the forfeiture of the said amount found in the kitty of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) to the government.
The sum was said to have been found by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the bank accounts of three firms.
The companies have been accused of impersonating consultants hired by the NGF to analyse the Paris/London Club loan refunds due to the states.
The commission alleged that the firms, Melrose General Services Limited, WASP Networks Limited and Thebe Wellness Services, obtained N3.5 billion from the NGF by making false claims.
