All is set for the formal defection of Senator Godswill Akpabio to All Progressives Congress, APC, in colourful ceremony to be graced by Professor Yemi Osinbajo, the acting President in Ikot Ekpene on Wednesday, August 8.

As Akwa Ibom people await the defection, more surprises are about to unfold the emerging political drama.

In a deft move, some bigwigs of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the state are expected to join the moving defection train.

Straightnews can authoritatively report that one of them, Udom Ekpoudom, a retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police is ready to join APC Wednesday.

In a telephone interview with Straightnews, Ekpoudom, an indigene of Uruk Ata Ikot Ebo in Etim Ekpo local government area, confirmed that he is leaving PDP for APC.

He said already there is an ongoing meeting in his village for him to inform the villagers and ward executive members, however debunked the notion that the APC was responsible for the killing in some parts of the country.

An anonymous source told Straightnews that the retired DIG was having frosty relationship with some PDP officers in the local government area, an action that might have prompted his decision to quit the party.

”At times, he came out and openly blamed the insecurity in the area on the activities of some politicians in the area,” the source said.
