The Rector commended E’ekpede Initiative for its advocacy in promoting civic education and voter enlightenment, and described the group’s vision as “bold and patriotic.”
Mrs Essein also applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for reforms in the education sector, which she said had positively impacted the Polytechnic.
“Beyond the accreditation of academic programmes, the Federal Government has accredited Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, for skills training and certification. We train people in garment making, furniture production, welding, and fabrication, among others,” she stated.
The Rector equally lauded the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, for his leadership of the National Assembly and the robust legislative interventions that have benefited the Polytechnic and other higher institutions nationwide.
Earlier, the Chairman, Board of Trustees of E’ekpede Initiative, Adede Kufre Inima, had commended Mrs. Essien for the progress recorded within a short period of her administration, including the accreditation of 19 academic programmes within three months of assumption of office.
Inima said E’ekpede Initiative represents a rebirth of civic consciousness and a reaffirmation of collective destiny, praising President Tinubu, Senate President Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno, PhD, for their visionary leadership.
The group used the occasion to confer on the Rector the title of E’ekpede Ambassador and invited her to participate in its upcoming activities.
Highlight of the visit was the presentation of branded materials and a statement of purpose to the Rector.
