Passengers of a 14-seater bus from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital, en route Lagos, were abducted by suspected gunmen in Imo State on Tuesday, January 11.
The passengers who were travelling in a bus marked “Government of Akwa Ibom State” were abducted at Obiohuru community in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of the state.
The gunmen reportedly ambushed the bus and took the passengers to an unknown destination while their luggage were left in the vehicle.

Daily Trust reported that the engine of the bus was still running as at the time some youths got to the scene before they subsequently alerted the police.
Information on the whereabout and release of the passengers is still sketchy as at the time of filing this report.
