The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, said Thursday that President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC were ready to meet the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its candidate at the February 23 Presidential election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, at the Supreme Court.
Briefing State House Correspondents when he led the APC women to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Comrade Oshiomhole accused the opposition PDP of blackmailing every institution in the country in its bid to take over power.
The APC chairman also jokingly said that if the PDP and its Presidential decided to take their matter to the World Court, the ruling party and President Buhari would meet them there (at World Court).
He said: “We as a party, we are confident if it is within the Nigerian law for PDP to go even to the World Court, we will meet them there. The Supreme Court is the Supreme Court of Nigeria, it is not a Supreme Court of PDP or APC.
“And even they, are govern by law and their business is to interpret or re-interpret the evidence that was before the Court of Appeal, they are not at liberty to introduce new issues nor can they bring in new witnesses.
“So if it is what I heard yesterday which I believe you also heard, most Nigerians were detained for eight hours listening even not seeing the voices, listening to the arguments of the judges one after the other.
“I think even though initially we thought it was getting longer but we realized that they tried to deal with each of the issues raised. Even the one you had I as lay men will consider inconsequential, they deal with each of them, thrashed them and arrived at a conclusion.
“Wednesday, I said that this whole contestation was about Nigeria who actually won the election and both parties are committed to building Nigeria, it was just about who should be given the key.
“Now, this has been resolved and it is time to queue behind the winner and move on. After all our winner is the best example that losing one election is not tantamount to the end of a political life.
“He lost three (elections) and today he is President. So but when I see the arrogance with which they pronounced and they bring what I call television lawyers who pronounce with some managerial finality as if they were judges even without any evidence before them.
“Let me now say authoritatively, we are ready to meet them, President Buhari is going to meet defeated Atiku Abubakar at the Supreme Court. The All Progressives Congress is ready to meet PDP at the Appeal Court and Adams Oshiomhole is going to meet my brother, Uche Secondus at the Appeal Court.
“And he will take second and I will take first.”
He explained that the APC Women leader were at the Presidential Villa to see the President to congratulate him on his election and to share their own ideas with him as to what could be done differently that would impact on women in terms of appointments.
“They also used the opportunity to thank the President for consistently expressing his confidence on the Nigerian woman by assigning them to what we might call strategic ministries in his government both in the first term and in his second term,” he said.
The seven women ministers are: Sharon Ikeazor (Minister of State for Environment), Zainab Ahmed (Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning), Gbemisola Saraki (Minister of State for Transport), Ramatu Tijjani-Aliyu (Minister of State for FCT), Sadiya Farouk (Minister of Humanitarian Sevice, Disaster Management and Social Development), Mariam Katagun (Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment) and Pauline Tallen (Minister of Women Affairs).
