All Progressives Congress (APC) youths in Akwa Ibom State have charged Governor Udom Emmanuel to build his campaign around his performance in office as governor and not on ethnic and tribal sentiments.
Mr. Steven Ntukekpo, Chairman, Youth Directorate, Obong Nsima Ekere Campaign Council, who stated this while addressing a press conference on Sunday in Uyo, asked the governor to desist from engaging in campaign of calumny against leaders of the APC in the state.
He however, urged the youths in the state to come out in good number for the APC governorship campaign flag-off slated for Monday, January 21, 2019 at the Uyo Township stadium, saying that Mr. Nsima Ekere, the APC gubernatorial candidate, is the only one that has robust plans to empower them.
“The incumbent governor and his campaigners should campaign on his record of performance if they have any, and not on sentiments and campaign of calumny against his opponent. But it is so clear that the present government in power has failed irredeemably. It has no record of performance to campaign on, hence resort to fabricating and circulating lies against our leaders.
“On Monday, January 21, 2019, His Excellency, Obong Nsima Ekere, our flag bearer, will officially flag off his campaign. For those who have firm believe in his capacity and integrity, I sincerely encourage all the youths in this great state to turn up for that great ocassion,” he stated.
Ntukekpo who said that the state was retrogressing with the governor on the helm of affairs, accused Governor Emmanuel of turning the Hilltop mansion into a coven of lies and deceit.
He described governor Udom’s industrialization mantra as a tale, urging the youths to vote for Nsima Ekere.
“Presently, there are no tangible projects in the state; no salaries for workers; no pensions and gratuities for our retired parents; no productive empowerment for the youths; no leave grants; no bursaries for students and no promotion allowances,” he said.
