… To construct ultra-modern Legislative Council Chambers for both councils

The political camp of Dr. Unyime Idem is swelling following his adoption by councillors from Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Legislative Councils in Akwa Ibom to return him as their sole candidate for the House of Representatives race.

The member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency got the major boost when the councillors paid him a solidarity visit and strengthened his resolve to serve them again in the Green Chambers.

Before now, some critical stakeholders and royal fathers from the Federal Constituency had visited him and spoke with one voice for the current House member to return as their consensus candidate for the 2027 general elections.

During the visit to the lawmaker, the councillors lauded his outstanding performance, impactful representation, and unwavering commitment to the development of the constituency.

In an unanimous decision, the Leader of Ukanafun Legislative Council, Mr. Ufokette Nelson Essien, moved a motion for the adoption of Rep. Idem as their sole candidate, and it was duly seconded by the Leader of Oruk Anam Legislative Council, Elder Sabbath Matthew Akpan.

The councillors described Dr. Idem as a visionary leader whose legislative strides and grassroots empowerment initiatives have significantly improved the lives of the people.

They noted that his track record in infrastructure development, youth and women empowerment, education support, and effective representation at the National Assembly stands him out as the best choice to continue representing the constituency.

The councillors pledged their total support and commitment to mobilizing grassroots backing across wards and communities to ensure his resounding victory and that of other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the 2027 polls.

Responding, Rep. Idem thanked the councillors for the confidence reposed in him, describing their endorsement as both humbling and motivating.

Idem who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Public Procurement reaffirmed his commitment to delivering more democratic dividends and sustaining the pace of development across Ukanafun and Oruk Anam.

He used the forum to pledge the construction of ultra-modern legislative chambers for each of the local government legislative councils, noting that this would help them carry out their legislative affairs with ease.

On human capacity development, Rep. Idem announced plans to fund training of the councillors on policy-making, oversight, and representation, in order to strengthen governance at the grassroots level.

Idem assured them that he would not relent in attracting more projects, creating opportunities, and amplifying the voice of the people at the National Assembly.

The Ukanafun-born lawmaker sought continued unity and support from the people as the constituency prepares for the 2027 elections.
