Local Government workers from Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal constituency in Akwa Ibom are to be sent on overseas training to boost their service delivery.

The member representing the Federal Constituency, Dr. Unyime Idem announced this Friday when local government workers under the aegis of Workers Forum, Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, paid him a surprise visit at his residence to commemorate the 2026 International Workers’ Day.

‘‘I plan to sponsor selected local government workers from the Federal constituency on foreign training programmes in India and Japan, as part of efforts to enhance effective service delivery at the grassroots,’’ Idem stated.

Addressing the enthusiastic workers, he told them that the initiative was designed to expose them to global best practices in public administration, innovation, and efficient service delivery, which they would replicate in their respective local government areas.

‘‘I make this sacrifice knowing that investing in human capacity development remains one of the most sustainable ways to strengthen governance and improve the quality of public service.’’

He commended the workers for their dedication, resilience, and contributions to grassroots development, assuring them that their welfare would continue to receive priority attention.

The Chairman, House Committee on Public Procurement urged the workers to sustain their support for the government at all levels and to mobilize their colleagues, families, and communities to participate actively in the electoral process.

Idem specifically urged them to mobilise their members to vote massively for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Governor Umo Eno, himself and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming elections.

Earlier, the workers had commended him for what they described as effective and inclusive leadership.

The forum, led by its Chairman, Ukeme Umoren, and Secretary, Inimfon Paschal Etuk, praised him for consistently carrying workers along in his projects and programmes, noting that their members have benefited from foreign trainings, the N1 billion family-based empowerment initiative, and ICT training, among others.

While passing vote of confidence on him, the workers unanimously endorsed him for another term in office, citing his contributions to the development of the constituency and my responsiveness to their needs.

They further extended their endorsement to President Tinubu, Senate President Akpabio, Governor Umo Eno and members of the State House of Assembly in the area, pledging to mobilise their members to vote for them during the 2027 general elections.
