Stomach ulcer is a peptic ulcer disease. Peptic ulcers affect both the stomach and small intestines. This is an injury inside the inner lining of a person’s stomach.

A study by Family Health magazine indicates that stomach ulcer is caused when the thick layer of mucus that protects the stomach from digestive juices is reduced, and the digestive acids start to eat away at the tissues that line the stomach, thus resulting in stomach ulcer. This causes extreme pain and discomfort to the person involved.

Symptoms of the ulcer are vomiting, severe pain in the abdomen, loss of appetite, weight loss, headaches, dizziness, etc.

Without the proper treatments, stomach ulcer can become very severe. These treatments could either be natural, surgical and non-surgical.

    Non-surgical: Antibiotics

    Surgical: Surgery

Natural remedies to cure stomach ulcer:

    • Unripe plantain and water

Get eight (8) unripe plantains, peel off the coat. Cut the unripe plantain into four a -(4) litre gallon or bucket, and add water. Allow it to ferment for four days. On the fourth day, shake the gallon or bucket vigorously.

Dosage: Half glass, 2 times daily. In the morning, you drink one hour before eating, and in the evening, one hour after eating your breakfast. In the night, eat your super one hour before you drink it.

Caution: Avoid pepper, guava, coke, beer, lime, grape and hot drinks.

Apart from this method, you can also dry the peels of the unripe plantain and grind them into powder, then mix one teaspoonful of the powder in a glass of water mixed with honey, and drink it three times daily (morning, afternoon, and evening).

Prevention: Ulcer can be prevented, by washing your hands with soap and water on a daily basis before taking any meal. This is to avoid the spread of bacteria that cause stomach ulcer. Also, make sure you wash all your foods stuffs properly and cook them thoroughly to avoid worms.
