    Nigeria Records 1,143 New COVID-19 Cases in 24 Hours

    Nigeria has recorded 1,143 new confirmed COVID-19 cases and 13 deaths, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control reported on Saturday.

    NCDC tweeted officially ”On the 13th of February 2021, 1143 new confirmed COVID-19 cases and 13 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.’’

    Of the reported cases from 19 states including Federal Capital Territory, Lagos tops with 319, FCT (157), Kwara (90), Oyo (74), Enugu (72), Nasarawa (69), Imo (58).

    Others are Osun (51), Gombe (49), Kaduna (31), Edo (23), Katsina (23), Kebbi (23), Ogun (22), Kano (19), Rivers (19), Ebonyi (18), Plateau (14), Delta (7), and Ekiti (5).

    ”Till date, 145664 cases have been confirmed, 120399 cases have been discharged and 1747 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    ”A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC) activated at Level 3, continues to coordinate the national response activities,’’ the public health agency stated.

    NCDC wrote ”Our discharges today include 1,040 community recoveries in Lagos State managed in line with guidelines.’

    Meanwhile, the Director-General of National Orientation Agency, Garba Abari has appealed ”to religious institutions to prevail on their followers on the need to #TakeResponsibility by adhering to #COVID19 safety protocols to #StopTheSpread of the virus.#StaySafe.”

    On its part, NCDC noted “While we recognise that people want to celebrate Valentine’s Day, we caution that they must do so safely to curb the new Covid-19 cases. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed our lives in several ways.’’
