    Akwa Ibom to Revoke Property Used for Night Clubs, Brothels in GRA

    The Akwa Ibom Government has ordered the closure of night clubs and brothels operating in hotels and private locations within the upscale Ewet Housing Estate (EHE) in Uyo.

    This decision comes in response to increasing complaints about noise pollution and social issues, including prostitution.

    Consequently, property of all offenders of the terse directive are up for instant demolition.

    A press release in Uyo on Wednesday, Barr. Patrick Udomfang, Managing Director and CEO of the Akwa Ibom Property and Investments Company (APICO), gave the operators seven days to cease their activities or face penalties.

    Udomfang emphasized that night clubs create excessive noise, disturbing the peaceful environment of the residential area, which is primarily inhabited by high-profile individuals.

    He warned that non-compliance with this directive would result in specific consequences, stressing that the operations of night clubs are strictly prohibited in this residential zone.

    “To all operators of night clubs in hotels and private properties, this directive is hereby given that such business is strictly prohibited.

    “Night Clubs generate excessive noise, disturbing the peace and quietness of the area. Operations of Night Clubs have promoted anti-social behaviours, compromising the environment’s integrity and breach the conditions of allocation.

    “Ewet Housing Estate is a private residential area predominantly occupied by high – profile individuals, and as such, noise pollutions from night clubs will no longer be tolerated.

    “Therefore, all hotel owners/operators are required to cease operations of Night Clubs immediately as non – compliance will meet specific consequences,” Udomfang warned.
