    Udom Inoyo, A’Ibom Son, Emerges Vice Chairman of MPN

    The Mobil Oil Producing and Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria, international oil giants, has appointed the first Akwa Ibom son as Vice Chairman into its board.

    He is Mr. Udom Inoyo, who until now was Executive Director in the board of Mobil Producing Nigeria since 2004.

    Announcing the appointment, Paul McGrath,the Chairman and Managing Director of the company, said “I am pleased to advise that effective March 19, 2018, U. U. (Udom) Inoyo, Executive Director/In-Country Human Resources Manager, assumed the position of the Vice Chairman to the board…”

    Governor Emmanuel had on assumption of office promised to ensure that Akwa Ibom is given its due recognition in line with the potentials that abound in the state.

    Udom joined the company in 1989 and after several Human Resources roles in Nigeria, USA and Belgium, was appointed Manager, Human Relations Policies & Programmes in 2001.

    He became the General Manager, External Affairs between 2002 and 2006, and thereafter, the In-country Human resources Manager. Udom was elected to the

    Udom is a lawyer, administrator, accomplished oil and gas industry professional with a track record of outstanding leadership in community service and advocacy. He holds a B.SC degree in Political Science (1981) and LL.B in Law (1987), from the University of Calabar and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1988.

    He is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School and Thunderbird School of Global Management, Arizona. In the course of his almost 35 years of working life, 28 of which has been in the oil and gas sector, Udom has attended as well as led several Management and leadership programs. He enjoys speaking on leadership, Human capacity development and Business Ethics.

    His early career as Administrative Officer was with the governments of Cross River and Akwa Ibom States. With ExxonMobil, Udom worked in the United States of America and Belgium, and has more than a decade role on the Board of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited and later, Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited as Executive Director.  He has utilized these experiences to pioneer and promote initiatives in Oil & Gas Project Resourcing, Oil Industry Advocacy and Influencing, Management and Public Policy Advocacy

    Udom has a passion for education, human capacity development and community service. In 2007, he inspired the establishment of Inoyo Toro Foundation,a platform that has been leveraged to advance the recognition of Public Secondary School teachers and student’s mentorship in his home state of Akwa Ibom. In 2014, he opened a library in his village of Ikot Okoro Ubium, to provide learning aids, and access to research and development opportunities for secondary school students. He also facilitated the start-up of the International Centre for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Research (ICEESR) University of Uyo, whose ground-breaking ceremony was performed in 2015.

    Past Chairman, Public & Government Affairs and Human Resources Committees of the Oil Producers Trade Sector (OPTS), a distinguished Service Awardee of the University of Port Harcourt Institute of Petroleum Studies, member of the Institute of Directors of Nigeria (IoD); in 2013, in recognition of his leadership role and promotion of corporate governance in the workplace, Udom was honored by ExxonMobil Cooperative Society with a 100 units Housing Estate located at Ajah-Lagos, named “INOYO HAVEN.”

    A distinguished Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, Udom has served in several capacities. Notably, he has been guest speaker in many different HR gatherings. Prior to his election as the President and Chairman of Governing Council, he served as Chairman of the Strategic Planning and Implementation Committee and then elected Vice President of the Institute.

    Married to Ntekpe, Udom is blessed with three daughters (Itoro, Aniekan and Mfoniso-Esther) and a son (Uko-Samuel). He enjoys playing golf.

    Mobil Producing Nigeria is one of the largest oil producers in Nigeria. The company commenced operations in Nigeria in 1955 under the name Mobil Exploration Nigeria Incorporated (MENI).
    MPN operates a Joint Venture with the Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). The Federal Government has a 60 percent share, with the remaining 40 percent being MPN.

    Since 1961, when the company was granted Oil Prospecting License (OPL) offshore present Akwa Ibom State, MPN has made visible contributions to the development of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. The company and its joint venture partner, NNPC, operate over 90 offshore platforms comprising of about 300 producing wells at a capacity of over 550 thousand barrels a day of crude, condensate and natural gas liquids (NGL).
