    Akwa Ibom Ex-Commissioner For Information And Culture Dies

    A one-time Akwa Ibom Commissioner for Information and Culture, Sunday Ekpo, has died.

    Ekpo, who died Tuesday, July 20, served as the Commissioner during the reign of Akwa Ibom military administrator, Brig. Yakubu Bako (retired).

    Born on September 19, 1954, he hailed from Ubolo Oro in Udung Uko Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom.

    An alumnus of University of Lagos, Ekpo commonly nicknamed ‘Express’ once served as a branch manager of the defunct Mercantile Bank of Nigeria.

    Anwana Esin, Jr, who confirmed the news on Thursday, July 22 to Straightnews said he was with his brother, popularly called Jimmy London, a one-time Government Printer, Ministry of Information and Cultrue in Calabar in his residence, Federal Housing Unit, Uyo on a condolence visit.

    -Former Hon. Commissioner for Information and Culture in Akwa Ibom State,

    -Former Manager, Mercantile Bank Nigeria PLC…’’

    However, many have conveyed their condolences to the bereaved family. According to Barr Mrs Theresa Edet Attih, ”Expresso, I called you so.. Oh God, You understand. Who can question you? We submit to your perfect will at all times. As it is your perfect will, may grace to forge ahead be the portion of the family members and friends. Grant him peaceful repose in Your bosom.’’

    Ekaette Anwana noted ”This is devastating; May his gentle soul rest in peace in JESUS mighty name, Amennnnnn!! My deepest condolences to his nuclear family, the siblings and the entire family!!!

    Uddy Bassey-Udo expressed ”Oh no, “Express” has kicked the bucket! May heaven repose his soul and give the family the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.”

    Selong Edem wrote ”Our condolences to the bereaved family.’’

    Esu Antakikam Amba said ”Rest on peacefully our distinguished Banker and Former Commissioner for Information, Akwa Ibom State.’’

    ”May his soul find solace in the bosom of Abraham. Rest on Sir,’’ Asukwo Odiong stated.

    Felicia Essang-Oludare exclaimed ”Jesus, how? When? My goodness. Pls it’s not true…’’

    Nkoyo Ukoh observed ”Sad! May his soul rest in peace. God’s Comfort rest upon the Family at this time.’’
