Russia on Thursday restored critical gas supplies to Europe through Germany via the Nord Stream pipeline after 10 days of maintenance, but suspicion lingered that the Kremlin would trigger an energy crisis on the continent this winter. Germany, which is heavily dependent on Russian gas, had feared that Moscow would not reopen the pipeline after the scheduled work and accused Moscow of using energy as a “weapon.” The showdown came amid the worst tensions in several years over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and tertiary education stakeholders on Thursday in Abuja adopted 140 as the minimum cut-off mark for 2022 admission into the nation’s universities. The cut-off mark for polytechnics and colleges of education was pegged at 100. Players of Rivers United collected $20,000, over N12 million each for winning the 2021/2022 Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL). The spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has described any officer who insists on checking a citizen’s phone as a scavenger. A Magistrate Court in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, has transferred alleged rape case of Moses Armstrong, Nollywood actor to the state High Court for trial. Police arrested the actor in June 2022 for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl about three years ago. A radio analyst in Akwa Ibom has faulted the interpretation of Mr. Mike Igini, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, on the provision of Section 115(1d) of the Electoral Act, 2022. Akwa Ibom Resident Commissioner of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mike Igini, says politicians who pick two nomination forms risk two years of imprisonment. Speaking this on Tuesday during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Igini said that it is an offence under the Electoral Act 2022 for politicians to obtain multiple nomination forms. Section 115 (D) of the Act states a person who signs a nomination paper or result form as a candidate in more than one constituency at the same election commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a maximum term of imprisonment for two years.…
