The 31st new Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom Police Command has assumed duty. He is Olatoye Durosinmi, who is taking over from Andrew Amiengheme, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police. Akwa Ibom High Court in Uyo on Tuesday fixed August 4 to deliver judgment of Iniubong Umoren, the job seeker who was allegedly raped and killed on April 29, 2021. Miss Umoren was lured by one Uduak Akpan, a fake job recruiter using social media to his father’s compound in Nung Ikono Obio in Uruan Local Government Area of the state. The headless body of a former member of Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Nelson Emeka Achukwu, has been discovered. The body was recovered two weeks after Achukwu was abducted from his residence in in Ukpor, Nnewi South local government area of Anambra State. A family member said they did not believe that he would be killed after a N15 million naira ransom was paid to his abductors. Popular Nigerian musician, David Adeleke also known as Davido, has given a five-year scholarship to a brilliant Ghanaian student to study in Adeleke University, Ede in Osun State. The student, Morro Suleyman, who scored A1 parallel in the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) in 2021, was unable to proceed to the University level due to financial reasons.
