Six suspects involved in indecent assault of a widow for allegedly causing her husband’s death in Eziagulu-Otu, Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area are in police custody.  Recall that the widow accused of killing her husband by having extra marital affairs, was beaten, stripped naked by her in-laws and forced to swear an oath before their deity. Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana who aligned his thought with the sack of Ebonyi Governor, David Umahi, and his deputy, Eric Igwe, declared that elections are won by political parties and not by candidates. Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja had sacked the Ebonyi governor and the deputy governor over their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has arrested 14 suspected vandals of adulterated Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) in Akwa Ibom. Moreover, it says it has impounded 170, 000 litres of suspected adulterated Automotive Gas Oil. Anambra State Governor’s wife, Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano and members of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), have condemned the inhuman treatment meted to a widow in the state. The Nigeria Union of Teachers, Akwa Ibom State Wing has ordered teachers in public primary and secondary schools in the state to proceed on an indefinite strike action. A press release dated March 13, 2022 and signed by NUT Senior State Secretary in the state , Comrade Victor O. A 38-year-old hunter from Akwa Ibom State has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for illegal possession of firearms. Edet Akpan George, married with eight children, was convicted Friday by Ibiono Ibom High Court in the state. A 300-level student of the University of Jos at the weekend committed suicide over the ongoing strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) nationwide. The aggrieved teachers had on February 14, 2022 declared a one-month warning strike in protest against the government’s failure to meet their demands.
