Eight students of Madonna University, Okija, Anambra State, travelling home for the forthcoming general elections, have reportedly died in auto crash. The students, who were asked to leave school on account of the forthcoming general election, were on their way to Taraba state when the unfortunate incident occurred. According to an eyewitness, the tragic incident happened on Saturday, 18th February at TTC/Special Science School junction, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. Facebook users shed tears as a family of four that came from church was wiped out when a 40ft-container conveyed by a truck fell on a commercial bus at Ojuelegba in Lagos State. Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has sued President Muhammadu Buhari over “the unlawful directive banning the use of old N500 and N1,000 banknotes, contrary to the interim injunction granted by the Supreme Court that the old N200, N500, and N1000 notes remain legal tender.” Defendants in the suit are the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila on Thursday faulted the decision of the Federal Government to disregard the Supreme Court order on the issue of currency swap. Recall that the apex court had last week given an order for the old 1000, 500 and 200 Naira notes to remain legal tender pending the determination of a case brought before it by some state governors.
