Contrary to the resolution of the Senate, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) insists that its January 31, 2023 deadline for the validity of the old N200, N500 and N1,000 notes stands.  The Senate, Wednesday, December 29, directed the CBN to extend the deadline for the withdrawal of old naira notes from circulation from January 31, 2022 to June 30, 2023. The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has apprehended 303 suspected irregular migrants with Permanent Voters Cards in the Uyo metropolis following their mop-up exercise in Akwa Ibom State.
