Massive jubilations greeted the Nigeria’s South East states as the Court of Appeal in Abuja, on Thursday upheld the appeal and freed the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu. Kanu had in his appeal dated April 29 and marked CA/ABJ/CR/625/2022, applied to be discharged and acquitted. More than 500 Nigerians died and 1,411,051 affected by the recent flood disasters across Nigeria, according to the Federal Government. Giving updates on the recent flood incidents, Dr Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, stated this in Abuja Tuesday. Sani-Gwarzo said 31 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory were affected, though he did not mention them. Amidst tears by mourners, the remains of seven family members who died in a mysterious house fire were buried in Kenya on Tuesday, October 11.  The incident occurred at Gichiche sub-county, Runyenjes, in Embu county in the early hours of Sunday, October 2, 2022. As part of the Nigerian Government’s ongoing efforts to recover stolen artefacts, the United States has repatriated 23 stolen Benin Bronzes to Nigeria. The development was part of the country’s foreign partners to recover artefacts looted by the British during their invasion of Benin Kingdom in 1897. The government had demanded a full and unconditional return of 1,130 Benin Bronzes looted from the African nation in the 19th century and domiciled in German museums.
