Kwara State magistrate court in Kaiama has jailed a 28-year-old man six months for stealing tubers of yam. Abubakar Bani was arraigned by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kwara State Command for stealing the yams from farms in Tenebo village, Kaiama local government area of the state. No fewer than 3,008 prisoners are awaiting execution in various correctional centres in the country, Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, stated. Former Senator, Shehu Sani has expressed grief over the death of Abdukkarim Bala Na’Allah, who was killed at his Malali (GRA) residence in Kaduna North Local Government Area on Sunday. It had been reported that Abdukkarim Bala Na’Allah, son of Senator Bala Na’Allah, was killed by suspected bandits. The Federal Government is ready to cross sword with the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) for giving her 21 days to resolve the current dispute with the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) and other affiliate members. The Federal Government has resumed payment of stipends to more than 24,900 beneficiaries in Akwa Ibom State under the Household Uplifting Programme-Conditional Cash Transfer (HUP-CCT). The HUP-CCT is managed by the office of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development led by Sadiya Umar Farouq. Altogether, beneficiaries from nine local government areas in the state rescheduled for payment will collect N20,000 each. The Nigerian Medical Association has thrown its weight behind National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria, and other affiliate members on the ongoing strike.
