The Akwa Ibom Governor, Pastor Umo Eno on Thursday, 16 May, 2024 restated his administration’s readiness to construct the Mbiaso Bridge in Obot Akara Local Government Area. The founder of MedContour Services, Lagos, Anuoluwapo Adepoju, has been sent to jail over a failed plastic surgery that resulted in the demise of one Nneka Onwuzuligbo in 2020. Adepoju who is also a medical doctor was given the option of paying a ₦100,000, in lieu of the jail term. Justice Mohammed Liman of Federal High Court, Lagos State convicted and sentenced her to a one-year jail term. The National Judicial Council under the Chairmanship of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, at its plenary of the 105th Meeting held on 15 and 16 May 2024, resolved to issue warning letters to Justice Inyang Ekwo and Justice GB Brikins-Okolosi. The Organised Labour has frowned at the Federal Government’s plan to utilise the N19.66 trillion pension funds for infrastructure development. This is contained in a joint letter signed by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), which was addressed to the Minister of Finance on Thursday in Abuja. Cross River State government has secured a $3.5 billion funding from the Pan-African multilateral financial institution, African Export-importbank (Afreximbank), for some of its key infrastructure projects in the state. The state governor, Senator Bassey Otu, who was in Egypt,  last week for a workshop, also visited the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in Cairo to explore partnership in key infrastructure projects to be undertaken in the state. Two Reverend Sisters were, Monday, remanded by The Children, Sexual and Gender-based Violence Court, Awka in Anambra State for illegal dealings and fraudulent adoption of children. The sisters: Angela Onyenachi Ibe, aged 42, and Mother-General, Reverend Sister Chiemelie Jacinta Yvonne, 41, were arraigned on a four-count charge of conspiracy, obtained by pretence, punishable under sections 495(a) and 386 of the Criminal Code, Cap 36, Volume II, the Revised Laws of Anambra State of Nigeria, 1991.
