The Federal Government has granted Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) approval to establish dedicated SIM Swap Centres in the 774 local government areas in Nigeria. The government also approved the extension of the tenure of National Identity Number (NIN) enrolment agents’ licences for MNOs from one to five years, considering their satisfactory performances. The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has raised alarm that an aircraft frequently drops arms for bandits and insurgents in some Northern states as a way of fueling insecurity.
