President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osibanjo have received their Oxford/AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine at Aso Rock Villa, Abuja on Saturday.
It was preceded by e-registration of the President and the Vice President and filling out of their vaccination cards by Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Faisal Shuaib.
Boss Mustapha, the chairman of Presidential committee on COVID-19 and secretary to Government of the Federation described today is a memorable day because of your drive in controlling COVID-19.
Mustapha noted ”You developed a multi-sectoral approach to control the pandemic. You constituted another committee headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. Because of the efforts, we were able to exit the first session.
Buhari directed all governors to take the lead to ensuring all receive the vaccine.
He constituted a task Force to implement the exercise.
Vaccination of Buhari was done by Chief Personal Physician to the President, Dr. Suhayb Rafindadi Sanusi after which he was presented with the e-vaccination card by Dr. Shuaib at 11:59 a.m, while Prof. Osinbajo was vaccinated by his personal physician, Dr. Nicholas Audifferen and was also presented with the e-vaccination card by Dr. Shuaib by 11:59.am.
The Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, said the jab was painless, a narrow gauge syringe was used with small quantity injected in the upper arm.
He said the after effects are mild and little discomfort follows in the area that was injected.
Present at the brief ceremony were Minister of Health Dr Osagie Ehanire; Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed; and the Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari.
