EXTENSION OF DEADLINE FOR FILING
OF 2025 INDIVIDUAL TAX RETURNS
The Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service (AKIRS) hereby informs the general public that the deadline for filing 2025 individual annual income tax returns has been extended by one month.
The new deadline is April 30, 2026, as against the initial deadline of March 31, 2026.
This extension is intended to provide taxpayers with additional time to accurately complete and submit their returns, while also promoting improved compliance across the State.
In line with Section 13 of the Nigeria Tax Administration Act (NTAA), 2025, all individuals are strongly encouraged to take advantage of this extension and fulfill their civic responsibility by filing their returns promptly to avoid penalties as stipulated under Section 101 of the NTAA, 2025.
Please note that electronic filing remains the only approved method of submission. Taxpayers are required to file their returns via ibomtax.net.
Taxpayers are further advised to ensure that all required details, including their National Identification Number (NIN), phone numbers, and addresses, are accurately provided during registration to avoid delays in processing.
For enquiries or assistance, please visit any AKIRS office:
- Revenue House, Udoudoma Avenue, Uyo
- Block 9, Idongesit Nkanga State Secretariat Complex, Uyo
Signed:
Sir Okon Okon
