Motion for the endorsement was duly moved by the Chairman, Conference of Village Heads, Oruk Anam Local Government Area and Village Head of Ikot Ibritam, Chief Ubong Obadiah; seconded by the Village Head of Ikot Akpan Afaha, Ukanafun Local Government Area, Chief Iniobong Akpaiya Udom, was ratified by the two Paramount rulers.
The event convened by the Federal lawmaker in Ukanafun Local Government Area took place during a strategic engagement with the traditional rulers.
The traditional rulers pledged to mobilise their subjects to deliver massive votes for President Bola Tinubu, Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, himself and other APC candidates in the polls.
They anchored their decision to support me on what they describe as his superlative performance in office, noting that his record of projects and empowerment programmes has set a benchmark for legislative representation across the country.
They acknowledged that the Ukanafun-born parliamentarian has transformed the federal constituency into a model admired by others nationwide, and insisted that he deserves another term to deepen and expand on the progress already made, pledging their continued support for him in the forthcoming electoral cycle.
Responding, Idem thanked the traditional rulers for the endorsement and adoption, and noted that the gesture has strengthened my resolve to do more for the federal constituency.
While appealing to the monarchs to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the forthcoming elections, he pleaded with them to return to their respective communities and sensitise their subjects on the importance of active participation in the electoral process.
He stressed that massive voters turnout would be critical to securing victory for the President, the Senate President, the State Governor, himself and other candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next elections, for continuity, stability, and sustained development in the constituency and beyond.
The Chairman of the House Committee on Public Procurement, however, briefed the monarchs on the ongoing rehabilitation of power infrastructure and restoration of electricity to the federal constituency, assuring to commence the second phase of the project soon.
