The Appeal Court, Calabar Division, Friday, upheld the conviction of Senator Bassey Albert Akpan  popularly known as as OBA on money laundering charges by a Federal High Court, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State and ordered his arrest. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) made this known on Friday in a statement by its Head, Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren. President Bola Tinubu has not approved any increase of salary for political office holders and judicial officers, the Presidency has reacted.  The media have been agog with reports that the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) is proposing a 114% review of salaries for political holders. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed the retired Assistant General of Police (AIG), Hakeem Odumosu as the substantive Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). This follows the suspension of Abdulrasheed Bawa as the EFCC Chairman, and subsequent appointment of AbdulKarim Chukkol as the acting Chairman of the agency.
