The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Sunday, said electronic transmission of election has come to stay, denying plan to manually transmit results during the 2023 general elections. The National Commissioner and Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, while debunking speculations that results would be transmitted manually, said, the electronic transmission of results remained the same. Unknown gunmen Sunday kidnapped four Catholic Reverend sisters along Okigwe-Enugu Road notorious for abduction of road users. Last week, Rev. Fr. The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has revoked the broadcast licences of Silverbird TV, AIT, Raypower FM, Rhythm FM and 49 others over failure to renew their broadcast licences. The stations were owing the Commission N2.6 billion since 2015. The debtor-stations include Africa Independent Television (AIT) and its sister radio station, Raypower FM; Silverbird Television, and 49 other stations across the country. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has joined human rights groups in the country in demanding immediate release of human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong jailed by Justice Ekaette Obot, the Akwa Ibom State Chief Judge.
