The bill had re-emerged on the floor of the House of Representatives on June 29, 2022, amidst suspicions from members. The Federal Government sent the Bill to the National Assembly requesting its passage into law in 2017, but it was rejected. A 31-year-old man in Akwa Ibom State has been sentenced to death for killing his 22-year-old girlfriend over accusation of infidelity. Ubon Udo Edet, a native of Use Ndon in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, was condemned Thursday by Akwa Ibom State High Court in Uyo presided by Justice Ntong Ntong. Russia on Thursday restored critical gas supplies to Europe through Germany via the Nord Stream pipeline after 10 days of maintenance, but suspicion lingered that the Kremlin would trigger an energy crisis on the continent this winter. A Magistrate Court in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, has transferred alleged rape case of Moses Armstrong, Nollywood actor to the state High Court for trial. Police arrested the actor in June 2022 for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl about three years ago.
