The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has extended voters’ registration exercise for another two weeks to end July 31.  In addition, the commission has extended to eight hours daily from 9.00a.m to 5 p.m instead of the current duration of six hours (9 a.m to 3 p.m.) daily. A former Peoples Democratic Party governorship aspirant in Akwa Ibom State, Bassey Albert, on Friday, removed the PDP’s flags in his campaign office, and hoisted Young Peoples Party’s flags. Albert, a two-term Senator representing Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District, had earlier on Friday resigned his membership of the PDP in a letter he sent to the chairman of the party in his ward in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. A Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday dismissed a suit filed by some aggrieved members of Akwa Ibom Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against the party over the alleged conduct of the state’s primary elections. Delivering judgment, Justice Obiora Egwuatu, held that the suit lacked merit.
