The Federal Road Safety Commission, Akwa Ibom Command has warned drivers and vehicle owners in the state against patronising touts to process their driver’s licence. Mr. Oga Ochi, making the appeal in his first media interaction in his office in Uyo on Wednesday, asked them to use designated FRSC office for the purpose. Akwa Ibom State government has backed down on prosecuting a pastor and videographer of Christ Embassy Church in Uyo, the state capital, for flouting COVID-19 Guidelines. Pastor Emmanuel Effiong and Gabriel Ekpa videographer in the church were arrested and detained on Sunday, June 21 for allegedly assaulting the COVID-19 monitoring team in the state. Nigeria has recorded 675 new cases of the Coronavirus, bringing the total number to 20,919 in the country. A tweet from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Monday night, shows that  7,109 persons have been discharged. In the new cases, Lagos is leading with 288 followed by Oyo-76, Rivers-56, Delta-31 and Ebonyi-30. Others are Gombe-28 Ondo-20 Kaduna-20 Kwara-20 Ogun-17 FCT-16 Edo-13 Abia-10 Nasarawa-9 Imo-9 Bayelsa-8 Borno-8 Katsina-8 Sokoto-3 Bauchi-3 and Plateau-2. A total of 525 persons have so far lost their lives in Nigeria due to COVID-19, the tweet said.
