The Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Transport, in collaboration with the Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service (AKIRS), has directed IMMEDIATE commencement of biometric registration and update for all commercial tricycles and minibuses in the State. The exercise commences from Monday, March 16, 2026, at the operational office of the Ministry of Transport, former AKTC, Ikot Ekpene Road, Uyo.
Also, the processes for Unified Ticketing for revenue collection has been communicated to the tricycle (Keke) and minibuses operators through their union representatives.
Consequently, all operators of commercial tricycles and minibuses are hereby directed to comply with the biometric registration/update and the new technology-driven daily ticketing via AkwaRemit into the Treasury Single Account (TSA) of the State from Monday, March 16, 2026.
